The Agricultural Sickness Fund (Zemědělská nemocenská pokladna), founded in 1921 for the Libáň judicial district and headquartered in Kopidlno, was first relocated to the building at no. 2 Husova Avenue in Jičín in connection with an expansion of the Fund’s activities in the districts of Jičín, Sobotka and Libáň after 1925. The institution remained here until 1939, when it ultimately decided against the planned reconstruction of the original building and instead opted to build a new two-storey administrative building on the corner of Smetanova and Bolzanova, according to the plans of Čeněk Musil.
The arrangement of the building, with its reinforced concrete ceilings and flat roof, was shaped by a basic wing on a trapezoidal floor-plan, whose plain façade with coarse grain rendering is broken only by windows, and into which, in the north-west corner is inserted a cylinder of fair faced brickwork – also used for the building’s socle and perimeter walls of the garage. The architect set the entrance into this cylinder, accentuated by three vertical strips of glass bricks. On the ground and first floors were waiting rooms and three offices; the ground floor also had a surgery, whereas upstairs was the office of the senior clerk. According to the plans, the eastern façade of the building bore a sign with the name of the institution, beneath the still extant flag bracket.
Today the building is used for the requirements of the hospital opposite (VP512), serving as its pulmonary department. The interior has undergone complete reconstruction.
